This past summer our Executive Board had the chance to travel to Washington DC for the first every back in-person conference. The theme was Re-union, allowing us a chance to form more connections with our fellow Northeast Quad Chapters!!

NAPKIN SKETCH

Held at Bocconcini's, students and industry professionals got together to compete in the Napkin Sketch competition. They were asked to complete a series of drawings following given themes. Winners get to have a coffee date with professionals.



TUTORIALS

Every year, students are offered a wide range of tutorials that aid in design visualization. Aimed towards first and second year students are the V-ray & Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Rhino. An AutoCAD Revit tutorial is offered to second and third year students.




Terry Sin | Norm Li Visualization Workshop

With clients such as Diamond Schmitt and Holt Renfew, Norm Li sets the standard for Architectural Visualization. Students began their year off with our visualization workshop, presented by Terry Sin, to learn how to conceptualize "What Makes a Great Render?”




GINGERBREAD COMPETITION

As the winter season arrives, students looked forward to the annual Gingerbread Competition. Students were grouped with industry professionals to create a Gingerbread based on a theme with each team representing a country. Holiday spirit was in the air, together with an amazing time of cookies, icing, and architect-cheer!




FBD CHARETTE
February 12, 2021
A series of conceptual charettes provoking unique and emotive design through illustration of a room that portrays memories or places that help the participant escape reality. The event is broken down into three phases: brainstorming, team-based sketching, and individual submissions.



CRAFT A STORY

For our AIAS' annual holiday event this virtual year, students and industry professional joined in to network and craft! The competition this year was a holiday movie-themed collaborative challenge. All that was needed was paper and cutting tools to craft your story.




FIRM CRAWL

Firm Crawl is an event that gives student the opportunity to explore firms that are currently in the architecture field. During the event students would explore what it is like to work in an actual architectural firm, and has the chance to chat with industry professionals at the firm.



BEYOND ARCH.SCI

Beyond Arch.Sci is an event that invites Ryerson Alumni back to campus to discuss opportunities beyond the architecture field. Students had the chance to meet with professionals from other industries such as real estate, game development, movie special effects, and more!




PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

The Portfolio workshop provides students in our undergraduate program the opportunity to polish and enhance their existing portfolios with the help of industry professionals. Students were grouped with one professional and rotations were held throughout the night for more input.




POPULARIZE

The biggest event of the year, Popularize, is held at the end of every year. Last year's theme was "Essence". Industry professionals ENFORM, Gow Hastings Architecture, Moriyama & Teshima Architects, and Studio AC were invited to speak.
